From personal experience, the foregoing 'blurb' is really saying that the Lightning cars were not always great runners 'out-of-the-box'. The consensus at the time was that they were fine as long as "you got a good one". Often the issue was quality control but sometimes a more calming motor - such as an NC2 or NC 5 - would do the trick.
